Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)-We have not communicated to DR Ruto
There are reports indicating that the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has summoned the deputy president to appear before the officials for failure to pay taxes.The reports have raised eyebrows especially after a letter alleged to be from KRA leaked. The letter asks the second in command to meet with the KRA officials to settle the matter.
“Since your assumption of office on 9th April 2013, the Kenya Revenue Authority has not received any taxes from yourself other than your mandatory income tax in your capacity as the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya. However, in light of recent revelations of your various commercial ventures, the KRA has taken this opportunity to review and restructure your tax obligation,” read part of the letter alleged to be from KRA.
The letter has also indicated that two officers from KRA would meet Ruto on 6th September 2021 to discuss the composition of his new income structure.
However, after a thorough research, we have established that the circulating letter is fake and has not been authored by KRA as alleged.The revenue authority has also dismissed the letter and termed it as fake.
