The hate speech against Deputy Speaker Anita Among is a war against the State.

When you want to blackmail a leader, it is good to at least give the smear campaign a thought and attempt for it to be believable. When enemies of the state want to succeed in their fights, they target those hardworking and committed leaders of the government to malign and perpetrate blackmail and hatred against them. This whole scheme is about discrediting the Rt Hon Anita Among and hence discrediting the institution of parliament. Let us examine this nonsense being spread about the Rt. Hon Anita Among.

(THAT SHE WAS BRIBED BY ROKO/ KINGDOM KAMPALA PROJECTS). 

First at the time of awarding the contract for the construction of the new parliament chambers, Anita Among was not a Deputy Speaker neither was she a member of the contracts committee of parliament or a Director at Roko. There is therefore no way that she could influence the selection process.

Indeed, even the little progress on works by Roko, has been due to her relentless efforts to cause the contractor to speed up works which are already behind schedule. Let those behind the delayed works take responsibility and account to the country. Every well-meaning Ugandan needs to ask those who were in charge the hard questions.

The public record is also clear on when the contract for Kingdom Kampala was signed and the parties involved. This idiotic practice of using leaders as scapegoats must surely end. What would be her role when the Kingdom Kampala deal was initiated and concluded in the 10th Parliament when she was not in Parliamentary leadership. Yes, Rt. Hon Anita Among is at the centre of the special audit by State House and the Auditor General to establish facts about the procurement for construction of the new chambers, the Kingdom Kampala deal and the fleet management and staff payroll of Parliament.Let those who abused the processes carry their cross.

What ignorant person does not know that the Hon Charles Tebandeke and Patrick Nsanja are MPs in their own right and if they bring a petition or motion to Parliament, should the Deputy Speaker throw it away or ignore it.Her job is to place it on the Order Paper and allow Parliament to debate and take a decision .Let us damage ignorance and say no to mediocrity.

THAT ANITA CONNED NUP MP SEGIRINYA OF MONEY 

Surely, facilitating a member acquire a loan facility from the bank is not the work of the Deputy Speaker. Any sensible person would know that it is the Clerk who signs letters of undertaking for both Members and staff of Parliament to take loans! It is a practice at Parliament for members seeking bank facilities to get formal letters of introduction from the Clerk’s Office. It’s foolish for one to consider such an action as taking a bribe as this is standard practice in the banking industry.

PAYING FOR MEDICAL RECORDS OF THE SPEAKER 

Anybody who has followed parliament recently knows that the two leaders enjoy the most cordial working relationship in the history of the legislature. Indeed the two are close friends and call each other twins. Had you ever seen two presiding officers walk into the parliamentary chambers together and Co-Chair a Sitting of Parliament? People should get used to a civilized way of  doing things and the new normal.

The NRM Government must wake up and accept that its enemies are now more determined than before and they are more committed now to divide the government, perpetrate hatred against leaders of our Government and hence weaken the entire system.
